The Newport - Derby, Vermont region is the premier destination of Vermont's "North East Kingdom". Literally, millions of years in the making, the region is defined and sculpted by colliding continents, glacial activity and natural erosion. Newport and Derby, VT are picturesque villages on the Canadian Border. The "Derby Line" on CANUSA Avenue literally divides the US and Canadian side of Derby, VT (see photo). Canusa Avenue is also located in the Town of Derby in which the yellow line in the middle of the road divides Canada and the USA thus how the street acquired its name CANada USA forming CANUSA Avenue.

The North East Kingdom area is an incredibly popular destination for fisherman, anglers and hunters alike. Notable Events:

• A commercial ice fishing derby has been held in February since 2004. In 2010, there were 920 participants.
• The only Soap Box Derby in Vermont is held in the city annually. The winner represents the state in the nationals.
